HARC Fall Arrest Training - Feb 12 2011

The training session was facilitated by John Logan who had conducted previous sessions for the Club. Starting at 9:00 AM, the 6 hour classroom session included a review of regulatory issues, proper method of equipment inspection and use as well as new new trends and information related to safe work at height.

John's many years of experience provided interesting and relevant discussion amongst the attendees. In addition, a number of questions were approached regarding current procedures employed on the roof of the club station. Look for some amendments in this area in the coming weeks. The often overlooked safety concerns related to the use of portable ladders was also discussed. The session concluded with a review the existing Safe Work Practice Policy that has been created by Terry, VE1TRB. This document reflects the requirements of the HRM Emergency Management Coordinator and existing policies while working on HRM property.

With the completion of the training session the participants were provided with Certification cards in Fall Protection Arrest which are valid until 2014.
